Council tax is set to be increased in Camden for the first time in six years.

The council approved plans on Monday to increase council tax by two per cent from April, which equates to £20 extra a year for households in Band D.

The decision is set to finalised in the budget in March.

Cllr Theo Blackwell, cabinet member for finance and technology policy, said: “Like other inner London councils we now have to consider rises after freezing council tax for the last four years because the government targeted the cuts at the areas with significant deprivation.”
