LONDON'S most outspoken politician, councillor and assembly member Brian Coleman, has been re-adopted as Conservative Candidate for Barnet and Camden on the London Assembly.

Last night following the publication of the Ham&High’s exclusive interview with the GLA member he was selected to stand again at the election in 2012.

Despite the storm caused over Cllr Coleman’s comments on the FBU and his assembly colleagues in this newspaper, Camden and Barnet members from five associations voted overwhelmingly to support him and no candidate stood against.

Cllr Coleman said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been selected again to defend the seat and look forward to continuing to represent the residents of Barnet and Camden”.

Harvard Hughes, chairman of the Hampstead and Kilburn conservative association, said local members and voters supported Cllr Coleman for saying what he thinks.

“Brian stands up for the interests of the public across the GLA area,” he said. “We couldn’t wish for a better representative. People like a politician where they know where they stand. The mayor of London is very outspoken and you know what he stands for. Brian is a similar politician. There is a lot of disenchantment with the sort of politicians from the new labour era where you didn’t know what you were getting.”
