Haringey Council has announced plans to spend £16.2million on improving roads and street lighting in the borough.

The figure, which is more than double what was allocated last year, was agreed by the local authority’s cabinet on Tuesday last week.

The move comes after the state of Haringey’s streets topped a list of residents’ complaints, following a survey by Hornsey and Wood Green MP Lynne Featherstone.

The council says the increased investment will enable repairs to roads damaged by the unusually cold spring and continue with a blitz on repairing potholes.
