Highgate Library's woodland garden was transformed into a fairytale adventure on Saturday, as dozens of children donned fancy dress for a Peter Pan party.

Every year members of the Highgate Library Action Group organise and sponsor a party at the site in Shepherd’s Hill.

Some 40 families enjoyed the fun-filled day with youngsters aged from two weeks to 12 years dressing up as pirates, fairies and Peter Pan himself.

There were also arts and crafts laid on for children to make their own eye patches, hats and wands.

A tea party was held to celebrate the opening of the library’s woodland garden several years ago and the action group has continued the tradition every summer since then.

Action group chairman Sue Chinn said: “Everyone had a wonderful time. The nice weather helped too. The action group committee all piled in to help, along with staff from the library –a real community effort.”
