The annual Hornsey Music Festival was officially opened on Saturday by the newly-elected Mayor of Haringey Stephen Mann with choirs from Campsbourne School and from St Mary’s Primary School being the first in a long line of acts on the Hornsey Green stage.

Local band Kids on the Mountain also played tunes from Ireland, England and Scotland before The Kindred Spirit Duo, singer Elaine Samuels and wireless violin player Martin Ash, got the crowds singing and dancing along performing their high-energy jigs and reels.

Catering for a wide range of music tastes, the festival offered punk, dance, jazz and classical acts across a number of venues including the Three Compasses and Great Northern Railway Tavern both in Crouch End High Street.

And on Sunday music lovers headed to St Mary’s Tower to enjoy a range of acts before a Taizé service of prayer chants involving monks from the ecumenical order helped bring the three day festival to a close.
