The Knaughty Knitters targeted Fortune Green last night and overnight dozens of pieces of knitting had sprung up across the park, baffling dog walkers and residents.
Cllr Andrew Mennear was walking his dog in the park this morning when he noticed the multi-coloured display.
He said: "A fellow dog walker said to me it is bizarre there is all this knitting everywhere. He had been out the previous night at 10pm and there was nothing there then but early this morning it had all appeared. They must have been hard at work last night.
"Some of the labels say Knaughty Knitters on them - it is all very peculiar but quite fun and really multi-coloured. Normally young people just hang around smoking in the park so this is certainly different.
