PETER Crouch is warning his former club Portsmouth that they have "had their turn" at FA Cup glory, as he bids to win the trophy for the second time.

Crouch lifted the cup at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium in 2006 with Liverpool, as two goals from Steven Gerrard earned a 3-3 draw with West Ham, before the Reds won in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

Crouch played his part, setting up Gerrard's first goal to earn the only major trophy of his career - he won the Community Shield a few months later - and the England striker admits he has been desperate to repeat the feat ever since.

"It's fantastic to be going to Wembley, with a real chance of getting to the final," said Crouch. "I joined Portsmouth just after they won the cup and the whole place was buzzing when they did it, but they've had their turn. Hopefully it's our turn this time.

"To win it once in your career is fantastic, but you get a taste for it and I want to achieve that again with Tottenham. I'd say winning the cup this year would probably be a bigger achievement than winning it with Liverpool.

"Nothing beats it, it was fantastic. I've watched the FA Cup ever since I was a kid. I loved watching it and it was the biggest trophy. People say the Champions League is bigger now but domestically, for me, the FA Cup is the one and it was a great feeling to win it.

"That was a fantastic achievement, probably the highlight of my career. Watching it on the telly as a kid it's something that you dream about.

"You look at the great teams who have won the FA Cup and when you're there it's a fantastic occasion and it's something I'd love to do again.

"My medal's at home, obviously with pride of place. I look at it every now and then. I've got to thank Stevie a little bit for that medal, but it was a great day and I loved every minute of it. I want to have a chance of that again.

"I said at the start of the season that I wanted to join a club that was going places. I really believe that Tottenham are and I think I've been proved right so far."

Crouch left Portsmouth for Spurs last summer, rejoining manager Harry Redknapp, first team coach Joe Jordan, and strike partner Jermain Defoe - who had all made the move from Fratton Park to White Hart Lane during the previous 10 months.

He has since seen Niko Kranjcar and Younes Kaboul make the same switch from the south coast to N17.

But, despite the strong Portsmouth links inside the Spurs camp, the England striker insists that he will happily sink his old club, and effectively end their miserable season, at Wembley on Sunday.

"I love both sets of fans. Portsmouth fans are very vocal, as are our fans. We haven't been there [to the cup final] for a while obviously, as Tottenham, and Portsmouth are having a very difficult season so it's going to be a great occasion," said Crouch.

"Obviously I feel for Portsmouth, the plight that they're in at the moment. I'm gutted for them. They're a great club and I loved my time down there. There's some great people behind the scenes there as well and I really feel for them.

"But there's no sentiment. There's a few here who have come from Portsmouth obviously, but that will be a side issue. We're all at Tottenham Hotspur now, the manager as well.

"We'll all look forward to a great occasion at Wembley but we've got to be professional and do a job. We want to get to the final, to get Tottenham to the final and give the fans here something to cheer about.
