Park-lovers were given the chance to express their affection for the abundant green spaces that adorn Hampstead and Highgate during Love Parks week.

Love Parks week, whch took place last week, was run by campaign group Keep Britain Tidy, and saw large boards in the shape of hearts placed on the Heath and in Waterlow Park, as well as in parks across the country.

There was a minor mishap when the board placed in Waterlow Park went missing – but a replacement was soon found. “The heart is back in the right place,” the park’s management wrote on Twitter.

Users of the Highgate park expressed the range and extent of their affection, writing that they love Waterlow Park ‘because it is full of animal-lovers’ and ‘it is like jumping back in time’.

Heath-lovers, meanwhile, were quick to post their snaps of the area and praise the green space’s excellent swimming and wonderful natural life.
