A TOUCH of the Paris street life is set to come to Westminster after planning chiefs backed the Mayor's ambitious cycle hire scheme.
Much like the heralded Velib system in the French capital, the scheme will allow residents to hire bikes from 136 docking stations across the borough before returning them to a convenient location.
Planning bosses have given permission for the first 34 stations, including one in Edgware Road. They are currently considering a second docking site in the busy thoroughfare.
Church Street Cllr Barbara Grahame said she supported the scheme. But she said there should have been more consultation with residents about where the stations are to be located.
