POLICE were called to a property in Golders Green when a resident received what he thought were two hand grenades in the post.
The home in the Vale was cordoned off just after 2.30pm on Monday while officers awaited the explosives unit.
When specialists inspected the items they were at first thought to be some sort of firework before being identified as paintballing equipment that had been ordered by a student lodging at the property.
A police spokesman said: “The items were legal to possess and no offences were committed. The intended recipient was asked to collect them and use or destroy them at his convenience.”
