Thousands of rail passengers travelling via King’s Cross faced more delays this morning (Tuesday, December 18) after more overhead wire problems were discovered.
East Coast main line services were cancelled and commuters were delayed for hours yesterday (Monday, December 17) after damage to power lines between London and Peterborough.
National Rail warned there would be major delays between Stevenage and Hitchin in Hertfordshire this morning (Tuesday, December 17), with delays of up to 30 minutes between King’s Cross and Moorgate and Peterborough and Cambridge.
There are currently no trains running through Hitchin.
National Rail said 14 “droppers”, which are part of the overhead wires, were found to be broken and contact wires damaged, causing damage to trains.
