A hostel for young people in West Hampstead is now producing fresh fruit and vegetables as part of a gardening project to teach older teens about sustainability and healthy eating schemes.
On Saturday the West Hampstead Safer Neighbourhood Team used materials donated by the Hampstead Garden Centre, which will be closing on July 29, to create the garden at Camden Pathways Young Persons Hostel on West End Lane.
PCSO Charlotte Louis de Canonville said: “It’s extremely important for our SNT to get stuck in with a variety of diverse projects throughout our ward. We have worked very closely with the Young Pathways Service over the past months and we are excited to see how the project will develop in the future.”
The aim of the project is to improve the appearance of the hostel and provide the young adults there with healthy fresh produce to eat.
