A tennis legend who has coached ten of the world’s number one players put children through their paces last week as he paid a visit to West Hampstead.
Nick Bollettieri spent two days on the lush lawns of the Cumberland Tennis Club as the world’s best tennis players gathered in London for Wimbledon.
The 83-year-old American is credited with developing ten of the world’s number ones in the sport – Andre Agassi, Boris Becker, Jim Courier, Martina Hingis, Jelena Jankovic, Marcelo Rios, Monica Seles, Maria Sharapova and Venus and Serena Williams.
He was at the club in Alvanley Gardens on Monday and Tuesday last week, holding clinics for junior and adult members.
And Mr Bollettieri, who is an honorary life-time member of the club, gave his verdict on who he thought could win this year’s Wimbledon.

He told the Ham&High: “It’s incredibly tough to predict – which is the great thing about the sport. Obviously Djokovic is in great shape but you can never discount someone like Federer at Wimbledon.
“But Murray is in the best physical and mental shape of his career – he has one of the best return of serves in the game. He could win it all.”
