I live in Nicaragua, but most of my life was in Hampstead and Belsize village.I created several additions to our life including Copper Beach Close and the Hampstead Antique Emporium as we know it today. We even had Mother Huffs, a recreaction of the original house of ill fame on the Heath.
When my father drove down Fitzjohn's Avenue there was an AA man in uniform at the top indicating the presence of a speed trap at the bottom. Wonderful times.
Several of my letters to the Ham&High dealt with the creation of an underground car park with shuttle service to the shopping area and then up to the Whitestone Pond, perhaps onward to Spaniards Inn.
I wonder if it's time to revisit this idea?
