Camden Council is set to name a new block of social flats in Somers Town in tribute to the late former cabinet minister Tessa Jowell.
The move was announced by long-standing Labour councillor for the ward, Roger Robinson, during a series of tributes paid to the former Camden councillor.
The homes will be built on the east side of Chalton Street, near the Polygon Road park.
The ten flats are being built as part of Camden’s Community Investment Programme.
Dame Tessa died from brain cancer earlier this year, aged 70.
Cllr Robinson said: “I knew Tessa when she came onto the council in 1973, when I was already a councillor.
“When she came along, I was feeling a bit disillusioned, and she enthused me as a young politician in all my fights.
“She cared, she was thoughtful and she fought for the needs of society and it’s a battle she continued despite serious illness.”
Tessa Jowell Court will open in 2019.
