A bus route that runs from Hampstead Heath to Pimlico is to become the first in the capital served solely by Boris Johnson’s new Routemaster.
On Saturday the new double-decker bus, with the distinctive open back, is running on the number 24 route from Hampstead Heath Overground station in South End Green via Mornington Crescent, Camden Town and Chalk Farm to Pimlico.
It will become the first route to exclusively use the new bus, which cost £11.4million to develop.
The new Routemaster first entered passenger service with eight buses on route 38 from Hackney to Victoria.
Transport for London says more than 600 of the vehicles, which have unofficially been dubbed the ‘Boris Bus’, will be in service by 2016.
