Haringey Council has appointed a new chief executive to replace Ita O'Donovan in the new year.
Kevin Crompton is currently chief executive at Luton Borough Council and is a former teacher. Mr Crompton, 53, was appointed because of his strong track record of working in children's services and multi-cultural communities.
The current chief executive, Ita O'Donovan, reached retirement age in May, but she agreed to stay on to help steer the council through the aftermath of the Baby Peter tragedy.
Mr Crompton said: "I'm confident that Haringey has the potential to be an outstanding local authority. I'm looking forward to working with everyone at the council to build on the improvements which have been made in recent months and to make the borough an even better place for everyone who lives and works there."
