SUPERMODEL Kate Moss's West Hampstead neighbours have been told to turn their cameras on the paparazzi after complaining about them using their gardens as toilets.

Ms Moss moved from St John's Wood up to Mortimer Crescent in NW6 three months ago. Since then, neighbours have had to put up with paparazzi camped outside their homes.

Residents were unhappy about snappers leaving litter behind, but the problem worsened when they decided to use bushes in the Abbey Estate's communal gardens as a toilet.

Gladys White, who lives on the estate, said: "It was chaotic with the paparazzi when Ms Moss first moved in and then it settled down a bit, but that was until I caught one of them peeing in the bushes. It was disgusting."

Ms White found the culprit in the back of a car, fiddling with his laptop, and confronted him.

"I asked him why he was peeing behind our rose bushes and told him that when the sun comes out it would stink, and kill our roses," she said.

"He promised not to do it again, but then they were all at it. It's horrible. There is a kid's play area behind those bushes. So I took toilet rolls out and told them it was for them in case the leaves were a bit hard on their bums."

When the party girl and her daughter are in town, the paparazzi camp outside the house 24 hours a day. They have been offering residents cash for any snapshots of her ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty going to the house.

Another neighbour who lives on the Abbey Road estate and wished to remain anonymous, said: "I cleared up all the KFC boxes and Coke bottles the paparazzi left lying in our gardens.

"The police should fine them. They are taking liberties because we live on a council estate."

Now police have advised Ms White to turn the tables and get snapshots of paparazzi urinating.

Sergeant Eddie Odita, from the Kilburn Safer Neighbourhoods Team which patrols the area, said: "We have sent officers down there twice. If we catch them in the act we can give them a fixed penalty notice. But we have not witnessed anything yet. We have told Ms White she will need to catch them in the act and try to get a photo.

"Some residents have been pleased the paparazzi are there as it discourages crime."

Sadie Frost and Kelly Osbourne, who has just moved in to Abbey Road, are regular visitors to the luxury house.

When the paparazzi are not there, Ms Moss often stops to say hello to her neighbours.

A spokeswoman for Camden Council said: "Urinating in public is an offence and is extremely unpleasant.

"A resident has been in contact with the police and we support any action taken to resolve the matter."
