A PLUME of mystery smoke has forced staff at Archway Leisure Centre to evacuate the building.

People in swimming costumes were spotted outside the leisure centre on Macdonald Road huddled in silver blankets alongside fire engines.

The centre remains closed while staff try to figure out the cause of the smoke and clear the building of the fumes.

A staff member said: "The whole building just filled up with smoke, so we had to evacuate all the customers.

"The fire brigade have left at the moment and we are now trying to find out what the problem is and are getting rid of the smoke."
