CRYPTIC posters were erected across Hampstead this week indicating that a mystery candidate is entering the Hampstead and Kilburn election race.

The image has a silhouette alongside other candidates Glenda Jackson, Ed Fordham and Chris Philp and proclaims the race will include "Not Just the Usual Suspects".

The Ham&High understands that the high-profile candidate will be part of a new political party aiming to bring "direct democracy" to Britain.

In a call to the Ham&High, a source connected to the party said the prospective candidate is local, well-known and has substantial financial backing.

The spokesperson said: "There has been enough talk of broken Britain. It's not us that's broken, it's the politics.

"Our candidate has lived in Hampstead and Kilburn all their life and knows that we're ready for something different and something better.

"It's time to turn our back on politicians who work for their party and their pay cheque.

"Our candidate will work for you, helping to build and care for our communities."
