Allyson Kaye, 52, founded charity Ovarian Cancer Action 11 years ago in memory of her late mother, who died of the disease when Ms Kaye was just 22. The mother-of-two, who moved to Belsize Park three years ago, was made an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for her charity work.

What brought you to Belsize Park?

We sold our family house which was close to the Heath extension and I wanted to be close to the Heath but within walking distance of work and the centre of town. Since moving, I have walked home from work once!

What is your favourite thing about the area?

Architecturally the area is so interesting as are the people inside the buildings. I love the stonking white houses of Belsize Park.

How has Belsize Park changed since you moved into the area?

Some of the old sitting tenants are dying off and the houses are renovated, in time I suspect that could change the atmosphere of the neighbourhood.

What is Belsize Park’s best kept secret?

The park is obviously the best kept secret, I still haven’t found it!

What would you change about Belsize Park?

Someone could empty the bins more frequently and pick up the rubbish that seems to fall out of the bins every Monday. Oh, and change the recycle bags.

If you were editor of the Ham&High for a day, what local issue would you champion?

I’d make a terrible editor... force the schools to have their own compulsory bus service.

Who is the most inspiring person you have ever met?

Possibly every woman I have ever met with ovarian cancer.

How would you spend your perfect Sunday in Belsize Park?

Walk to Belsize Village with the dog, have a cappuccino (no favourites – choice of three cafes), make the sun shine, go into the LateLate supermarket and marvel at how huge it actually is, walk on the Heath or Primrose Hill with family or friends. Another coffee over the Parliament Hill side. Finish it off with a late lunch of fresh caught fish on the BBQ with fattoush salad and a glass of wine.

What tips would you give to somebody moving to the area?

Try and give up your car.

Where in the world would you twin with Belsize Park?

Old Antibes in France.

If you had to write your own epitaph what would it say?

Who could beat The Great Spike Milligan ‘I told you I was ill’. My family would agree too with reference to my hypochondria.
