Muswell Hill library is holding an event celebrating the refugee contribution to Haringey this weekend.
On Saturday at 2pm, campaigner Lucy Nabijou will speak at the historic Queens Avenue library about how people in the borough can make refugees welcome.
Lucy will tell the audience about her organisation, Haringey Welcome, who re-launched in February with a campaign opposing the Government’s “hostile environment” immigration policy.
The group have also been endorsed by local MPs David Lammy and Catherine West, who have both signed Haringey Welcome’s pledge to “to continue to be a welcoming place for everyone who has come here”.
George Danker, chair of the Friends of Muswell Hill Library, told this newspaper: “This is a campaign group of local volunteers who work for fairness, dignity and respect for migrants and refugees in Haringey.
“They want a welcoming and inclusive community that benefits everyone who lives and works in our borough.”
The event is free, although would-be attendees are encouraged to arrive promptly as space is limited.
