The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy is raising money for an extended building and new state-of-the-art facilities.

The centre will be hosting an Over the Rainbow-themed black tie gala dinner at Shakespeare’s Globe, hosted by comedian Tim Vine.

There will be a three course meal with aerial artists, a prosecco reception and a DJ to dance off the night.

The fundraising drive is called the “milkshake appeal” because when the school asked the children what they wanted in the new building, one of the girls said they would like to see a milkshake tree.

CEO Jo Honigmann said: “We’ve used this brilliant idea as the name for our appeal.

“I think it captures the spirit of our mission to inspire disabled children to develop independence, confidence and self-esteem and to achieve their full potential – and, hopefully, to make their dreams come true.”

The centre hopes to raise a further £4.8m to enhance the current centre building, build a new state-of-the-art extension and create fully inclusive landscaped grounds. They would be able to? double the number of children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders who come to the school and early intervention sessions.

And they would provide conductive education support for adults with a range of conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s and those recovering from a stroke.

?- The Milkshake Tree Appeal will be launched at the LCCCP Gala Dinner on 19 May 2016. For tickets: cplondon.org.uk/support-us/special-events-2/gala-dinner/
