A group of Jewish refugees who survived the Holocaust when they were children has celebrated its 20th anniversary at the House of Commons.

The Child Survivors Association of Great Britain (CSAGB) marked the milestone with a visit to the Speaker’s House on Thursday (June 12) where they were welcomed by Conservative peer Lord Daniel Finkelstein, executive editor of The Times, and Tory backbench MP Peter Bottomley.

The group is an independent branch of the Association of Jewish Refugees, which meets at the Sobell Centre in Golders Green Road, Golders Green and has strong connections to the Belsize Square Synagogue in Belsize Park.

Holocaust survivor and chairman of CSAGB Joan Salter, 74, of Church Crescent, Muswell Hill, said: “We received an invitation from the Speaker to use his apartments and it made it a very special day.”
