He may have died four weeks ago but that didn’t stop 113 people from voting for a Hampstead and Kilburn parliamentary candidate.
Former Eurovision contestant Ronnie Carroll sadly passed away on April 13, days after getting his name printed on ballot papers for the most marginal seat in England.
It was too late to have his name removed so he was down as an independent in yesterday’s general election.
Mr Carroll, who was 80, was on the statement of nominations as The Eurovisionary Carroll. Sophy Dury and Bill Dury were listed as nominees for his candidacy.
He contested the 1962 and 1963 Eurovision Song Contests, making him the only Briton to compete two years running.
Mr Carroll had contested elections before, winning 29 votes in the Haltemprice and Howden by-election - despite campaigning for a record score of 0.
Labour held on to the seat, which was formerly held by Oscar-winning actress Glenda Jackson who scooped it with just 42 votes, after Tulip Siddiq won with a majority of 1,138.
