Artist Paul Winner donated a cheque for £300 from the sale of his work to help save the Hampstead School of Art (HSoA).
The painter, a cousin of the late food critic Michael Winner, raised the money from the sale of small sketches at the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead.
He has also offered a further 100 of his watercolour paintings to be sold for £1,000 each to help the school’s new building fundraising campaign.
The school, founded by sculptor Henry Moore in the 1960s, faces being made homeless unless it can raise £1m to fund a new building on its site in Kidderpore Avenue being developed by Barrett Homes.
Mr Winner urged people to support the historic art school which was part of Hampstead’s character and helped to bring people from together.
