The Ham&High’s star food critic Joseph Connolly called on comedy royalty to launch his latest novel.

Monty Python star Michael Palin, who lives in Gospel Oak, joined Mr Connolly at a party in Hatchards bookstore, in Piccadilly, to mark the release of his 13th novel Style on Wednesday last week.

The new book, published by Quercus and available in bookstores for £19.99, is described as a satire which “skewers over-inflated celebrity culture and dethrones child stardom”.

Mr Connolly, 65, who once owned the Flask Bookshop in Hampstead, was joined by around 100 friends for the launch last week.

He said: “These parties are good because I only ever invite people I like.

“Michael is a very good friend. He has an extremely unique style. He’s very interesting and seems to get on with everybody.”
