LIB DEM mayoral candidate Brian Paddick believes the race to lead London is just too close to call.

The former senior policeman was not prepared to indicate how many GLA seats he thinks his party has won, but said he believes he put up a good fight against Ken Livingstone and his Tory rival Boris Johnson.

Speaking just after midday to the Ham&High at the count for the West Central seat in Olympia he said: "Compared to two giant personalities I think I gave a good show and now we will have to wait for the results. It is early days and we have only counted 12 per cent of the votes. It is hard to tell - I have absolutely no idea who will be mayor. It is very close.
