Retail expert Mary Portas cut the ribbon at the opening of the newest branch of her high-end charity shop chain in the heart of Highgate Village.
Crowds of eager shoppers lined up to rifle through the rails of Mary’s Living and Giving Shop, which raises money for Save the Children, in Highgate High Street on Saturday.
“Queen of Shops” Ms Portas, who lives in Primrose Hill, told the Ham&High last month she hopes the shop will increase footfall on the high street and become a “social anchor”.
Shop manager Rosanna Dodson said: “It surpassed all our expectations, not that we expected less of the Highgate community. There was so much support.”
