A MAN lost a kidney after he and a friend were set upon by a teenage gang in Camden Town.

The victim, 29, and his friend, 28, had been at a bar in the Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, at 2.30am on Sunday when they were attacked by about 15 young men and women as they reached the junction with Juniper Road.

After being punched and kicked, the elder man collapsed near the Barfly club.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital where it was discovered he had a ruptured kidney which was then removed.

His friend suffered a black eye and bruising on his shoulder.

Det Sgt Steve Chappell, of Camden police's violent crime unit, said: "We believe this assault was motivated by a minor verbal altercation."
