A man in his 40s was detained under the Mental Health Act after threatening to self-harm on Archway Bridge on Saturday.
Police officers were called to the bridge, which runs over Archway Road in Highgate, at around 3pm and talked to the man.
He was taken to hospital within quarter of an hour of police attending the scene and was not arrested.
