A man was found hanged next to the Regent's Canal on Sunday morning.
Paul Anthony Stringer, 30, of Harrow Road, Maida Vale, was found dead and hanging from a tree by a member of the public.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at about 11.40am but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family, who live outside London, have been contacted.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a coroner's inquest will be scheduled in due course.
