Labour peer and medical professor Lord Robert Winston complained about having to wait up to a month for a GP appointment during a talk about the future of the NHS.
Lord Winston, who lives in Hampstead Garden Suburb, raised his concerns about the NHS during a talk in front of 140 people at the Shree Aden Depala Community Centre, in Church Lane, East Finchley, on Tuesday last week.
The talk was chaired by journalist David Brindle, the Guardian’s public services editor, and included Sarah Sackman, Labour parliamentary candidate for Finchley and Golders Green.
Ms Sackman said: “GP practices in this constituency are closing and not being replaced. The result is that this winter people had to wait for more than four hours in A&E at the Royal Free Hospital, the Whittington and Barnet Hospital.”
