‘Local’ people to get priority for Camden council homes

People who have lived in Camden for more than five years will win priority for a new council home under proposals.
Camden Council plans to give those most in need of a home the best chance of securing a new council property, including overcrowded families, people with young children and “local” people.
Those who have lived in the borough for at least five of the last seven years would shoot up the housing waiting list of 28,000 people.
Cllr Julian Fulbrook, cabinet member for housing, said: “With homes in such high demand, we have to ensure they go to local people who would benefit the most.”
A consultation on the proposals will run until April 5. Visit camden.gov.uk/housingallocation.
