He said: "I'm truly honoured and humbled by this award for 14 years of work in the voluntary and community sector, and it has been a pleasure to work with so many good people from diverse races, cultures, genders and faiths."

Crouch End resident Barbara Trevorrow Hamnett has received an MBE for her contribution to education. Mrs Trevorrow Hamnett, of Park Avenue North, was formerly the deputy headteacher of the JFS school in Brent.

She said: "I was informed three to four weeks ago and was sworn to secrecy. I was shocked and touched because it must have come from former colleagues."
