Equalities Minister Ms Featherstone took exception to dances by Christina Aguilera and Rihanna

WITH civil unrest at a generational high, university fees rising and unemployment levels rising, equalities minister and local MP Lynne Featherstone has waded in on this week’s big issue - The X Factor.

Ms Featherstone has spoken out over the “raunchy” performances of American starlets Christina Aguilera and Rihanna on Saturday night’s live X Factor final, branding it “a bit much”.

The performances, which saw Rihanna on stage in a bikini and Aguilera raunchily dancing with other scantily-clad dancers to promote her new film, Burlesque, have attracted thousands of complaints from members of the public to watchdog Ofcom.

Ms Featherstone - who has seen protests spring up in her constituency over her decision to vote for the increase in university tuition fees - said: “It was a bit much because so many young kids — seven and eight-year-olds — watch it. They could have come up with something a little less raunchy.”
