UP to 20 houses in Crouch End face further disruptions to their power supplies this week, as EDF continue to repair a faulty electricity cable in the area.
A spokesman for the energy company said that engineers had pinpointed the cause of repeated power failures in The Broadway to a faulty cable on Crouch Hall Road, and were working to fix it.
But he warned that homes in Crouch Hall Road may face further disruptions this week as engineers turned off the supply during the repair work.
Traders contacted Broadway last week to complain that they had two power cuts on Sunday and Wednesday. John Purkis, manager of Walter Purkis and Sons fishmongers, was forced to serve customers in the dark after a power cut last Wednesday.
He was relieved to hear that EDF was fixing the problem and told Broadway: "The last thing that we need in the cold weather is no lights and heating.
"It's about time that EDF sorted the problem out, it needs fixing."
A spokesman for EDF said: "We had a team of engineers on site on Tuesday working on improving the electricity distribution network in the area concerned.
"They have pinpointed the fault to Crouch Hall Road and, subject to the poor weather conditions and emergency demands on our staff, hope to complete a permanent repair and improvement, including replacing a section of underground cable, by the of this week.
"Through careful working only about 20 customers in Crouch Hall Road will now be affected by short power interruptions while the work is completed.
