TROUBLED singer Pete Doherty will join old band mates Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell at Kentish Town music venue The HMV Forum for the first Libertines gig in six years.

The newly-reformed band will perform to a select group of fans, who won the chance to purchase tickets through an online ballot, next Wednesday (25 August). The band members have not played together as the Libertines since 2004.

It is thought that the band have organised the concert as a warm up ahead of reportedly lucrative appearances at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Tickets for the gig were not put on general sale but instead offered, priced 30, to fans, chosen at random, after registering interest on the band's website.

A Libertines spokesperson said: "The band felt this was the fairest way to distribute tickets and to avoid fans being charged extortionate amounts for them."

Arj Singh, a copy writer of Kentish Town Road, who is attending the sought-after gig, said: "I was really excited to hear the Libertines are reforming, even though I was there the first time around, I only saw them with Pete once.

"I had to apply through the ballot system and got rejected but then I got an email the next day with a link to first come, first served and got one. Bob's your uncle - I can't wait, especially as I live just round the corner.
