A pub has rubbished tabloid rumours that former Oasis “wildman” Liam Gallagher was kicked out for being too drunk.
A national newspaper claimed the Hampstead rocker had been refused a drink at The Queens pub in Crouch End twice on Sunday (March 10).
A tweet from the pub’s Twitter account on Mother’s Day, said: “We’ve had to kick Liam Gallagher out twice today. He asked whether it was because he was a rock star. We said no, just a drunken twit.”
The comment was later deleted.
But it seems the dad-of-three may not have been reliving his Cigarettes and Alcohol-fuelled youth in the coffee-lined streets of Crouch End.
The pub, which is popular with celebrities who live locally, later claimed reports of the incident had been exaggerated.
A staff member said: “To be honest the tweet was a bit of a joke. He wasn’t asked to leave at any point.
“He ordered tequila and we said we weren’t going to serve tequila at midday on a Sunday.
“The Sun newspaper got involved and they’ve done what they do and make it seem a lot more.
“He wasn’t kicked out or asked to leave, we just said we don’t serve tequila at midday on a Sunday.”
Happily, the fracas did not disturb the Morning Glory of Mother’s Day for families enjoying lunch in the pub.
