The Lady Mayoress of the City of London took a dip in the Ladies’ Pond in Hampstead Heath last weekend to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s charity appeal.

Lady Mayoress Dr Clare Gifford swam 5km last Saturday to support her husband Lord Mayor Roger Gifford’s charity efforts this year.

Dr Gifford was joined on the day by teams of swimmers, including the City Corporation’s very own Heath Lido Lifeguards, who all took on the City of London Corporation’s annual charity challenge City Dip - a 5km swim, which can be completed by an individual or a team.

She said: “I have swum in the Ladies’ Pond since I first moved to live beside Hampstead Heath in 2000. It was a huge pleasure to be able to do my bit for the appeal in this serene and secluded haven.”

Funds raised from the City Dip challenge this year will go towards the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, The City in Society, from which a number of charities supporting young people will benefit.
