A MURDERER who cut off his neighbour's head and threw it in the Regent's Canal has been jailed for life.

Last Thursday a judge at the Old Bailey sentenced Mohammed Boudjenane (pictured above, right), of Kingsgate Road in West Hampstead, to a minimum of 22 years behind bars after a jury found him guilty of murder, as well as rape and false imprisonment.

On February 3 this year Boudjenane killed his neighbour Lakdar Ouyahia (pictured right), 43, just hours after kidnapping and raping a 42-year-old mother of four who he suspected had slept with his victim.

He was caught on bus CCTV carrying Mr Ouyahia's head in a bag before throwing it into the canal. He dumped the rest of the body in a supermarket cage where it was found by a member of the public.

Sentencing him, Judge Christopher Moss QC told Boudjenane: "You are, it seems to me, a very dangerous man. It will be for others to determine whether it will ever be safe for you to be released."

Earlier that day, Boudjenane abducted and raped a mother-of-four as she was going to church to sing in the choir.

Full report and pictures in this week's Ham&High, in shops on Thursday.
