Office workers are putting their modesty to one side for the day and revealing their underwear to colleagues in support of a children's charity.

Workers from companies at Highgate Studios, in Highgate Road, Kentish Town, arrived to work today with their undergarments on full show, as part of Wear Your Lucky Pants to Work Day.

The fundraising initiative was dreamed up by staff at Lucky Pants Bingo, a bingo website run from Highgate Studios, to raise money for Starlight Children’s Foundation.

They hope to make the quirky charity day an annual event which spreads across the country, having already involved several offices elsewhere in the UK.

Lucky Pants Bingo worker Darren Sims, 37, said: “The website is all about lucky pants. You always read about celebrities or sports stars who wear their lucky pants for various events so we thought this would be a fun event to raise money.

“There is no greater cause than assisting a charity that helps children. We want all the money raised going to Starlight to fulfil dreams and wishes for the children they deal with.”

Lucky Pants Bingo, which describes itself as the “UK’s leading boutique bingo site”, has pledged to donate £5,000 to Starlight, which offers activities and entertainment to seriously and terminally ill children.

The company has also launched special Starlight games on its website where the online bingo operator will match the jackpots and donate them to the children’s charity.

Fundraisers are being encouraged to take a selfie photograph of themselves wearing their underpants at work to post on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.

Mr Sims added: “We thought, ‘Let’s get people to be ambassadors for the project and take it to their workplace and get it to become a bit of a movement.’ It’s a very fun day and it’s for a great cause so everyone’s embraced it to the full.”

Donations to the Wear Your Lucky Pants to Work Day scheme can be made by texting “PANT22” followed by the amount you wish to donate (“£5” for example) to 70070
