It has been confirmed by the FA and the Ryman League today that Wingate & Finchley have been granted a reprieve from relegation and will rejoin the Ryman League Premier Division next season.
The Blues went down on the final day of the season despite their biggest victory of the campaign - a 5-0 home win over Billericay Town.
However, Worksop Town resigned from the Northern Premier League last Friday, which left one spare place at Step 3 - and that has gone to Wingate as the highest-ranked team on ‘points per game’.
Chairman Aron Sharpe said: “We are pleased to have been granted a reprieve, although we find no pleasure that it be at another club’s expense, namely Worksop Town.
“However, we shall grasp the opportunity with both hands and look forward to once again competing in the Ryman Premier Division. We wish Worksop Town well in their survival quest.”
Captain Marc Weatherstone tweeted: “I told you I would bring [Wingate] back up to the Ryman Prem but to do it this quick after 3 weeks just shows you what I’m about!”
Hayes & Yeading will be moved across to the Southern Premier Division, while Ware move back into the Ryman League, filling the gap created in Division One North.
