LOCAL Tory party parliamentary candidate Joanne Cash has withdrawn her shock resignation and decided to stay in post to fight the upcoming elections.

The 40-year-old lawyer announced her decision to resign at an emergency meeting of the Westminster North Conservative Association on Monday night.

The surprise move was prompted when the association's chairwoman Amanda Sayers, who had apparently attempted to have Ms Cash de-selected as candidate, was elected as the group's new president.

But following a 24-hour cooling off period pregnant Ms Cash, whose husband attended Eton with David Cameron, confirmed that she had changed her mind and decided to stay.

It is believed her decision was swayed by Conservative HQ's confirmation that Ms Sayers was no longer president.
