THE jilted ex-boyfriend of a Golders Green model whose face was disfigured with acid has been jailed for life.

Danny Lynch, 29, was sentenced this afternoon (Friday) for raping the 25-year-old aspiring TV star and ordering a terrifying attack on her which has left her permanently disfigured.

Having raped the woman - who must remain anonymous - following the break down of their relationship, he then ordered his accomplice Steffan Sylvestre, 20, to throw sulphuric acid in her face as she walked along Golders Green Road last March. Sylvestre received an indeterminate stint behind bars for the public's protection, and must serve at least six years in a young offenders' institution.

Judge Nicholas Browne said at Wood Green Crown Court: "The victim had a face of pure beauty. You, Daniel Lynch and Steffan Sylvestre, represent the face of pure evil.

"The facts of this case are chilling and shocking. The facts of count three [the acid attack] defy belief.

"You, together with your accomplice, planned and then executed an act of pure calculated and deliberate evil. You decided to wreck the victim's life by thrusting a full container of sulphuric acid straight into her face from point-blank range."

The judge told Lynch he will serve at least 16 years behind bars before even being considered for release.

Speaking about the victim, he added: "Her tremendous courage is not in doubt and I feel sure her fight back to life will start soon.

"Her desire for justice and an unwavering truthfulness in the face of the most appalling adversity were the clearest example of the bravery of the human spirit."

Speaking outside the court after the sentences were handed out, the victim's 59-year-old father said: "We are very pleased that at last we have got justice for our daughter.

"It has been an extremely distressing time for the whole family.
