At around 4.40pm on Monday, the 40-year-old was getting something from the back of her car in Berkley Road, when she was hit on the shoulder and her necklace ripped off.
The robbery came three days after a 27-year-old man was attacked by a gang of 10 men in nearby St Edmund's Terrace.
He was kicked in the back and punched in the face before having personal items stolen.
Police are appealing for information about the two incidents and are particularly keen to speak with two women who were passing and spoke to the female victim.
Call police on 020-7404 1212 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
