After sightings in Hampstead and Kentish Town, Japanese knotweed has struck again in Camden, this time on Primrose Hill.
The weed is growing at the back of the park near the softball pitches and at its side where the reservoir meets an apartment block.
Japanese knotweed is Britain’s most invasive plant and can grow up to 10cm a day. Its deep roots have the potential to destroy foundations of homes and can force its way through brick walls.
Royal Parks, which manages Primrose Hill, will treat the knotweed in July which it says is the best month for successfully getting rid of the plant. Treatment does not harm surrounding plants, animals or anyone on Primrose Hill.
