Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s “food revolution” was in full swing in Highgate at the weekend with a farmers’ market offering fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and a hog roast.

More than 500 people visited the market in Broadbent Close on Sunday (April 27), one of thousands of events across the world raising awareness of Mr Oliver’s Food Revolution Day, a global campaign to get families to eat more fresh produce.

Stalls sold soft cheese from Bath, free range meat, and Bedfordshire clangers - a suet crust dumpling with a savoury filling at one end and a sweet filling at the other.

It is the second time All About You gym, in Broadbent Close, has hosted the farmers’ market ahead of Mr Oliver’s annual Food Revolution Day on May 16.

David Osgarthorp, founder of All About You and Food Revolution Day ambassador, said: “It was a really social event.”
