An investigation is underway at Camden Council after a High Court judge overturned a planning decision following objections by nightclub and live music venue Koko.
The venue at 1A Camden High Street appealed after permission was granted to convert the neighbouring Hope and Anchor pub into eight flats.
Venue owner Obar Camden Ltd mounted a judicial review challenge to the planning permission and it was quashed by judge Mr Justice Stewart.
Mr Stewart went as far as to say that councillors had been “significantly misled” by the planning officer’s report in relation to aspects of the noise issue, and that the decision-making process had been “truncated”.
Following the ruling, Councillor Phil Jones, cabinet member for regeneration, transport and planning, said: “This is a very concerning situation.
“Investigations into what happened have already started and all necessary action will be taken to address the shortcomings identified.”
