Once again I have missed the beginning of a film at the Finchley Road Vue because the only way to pay cash for a ticket is to queue behind people buying junk food at too few tills. On this occasion I was trapped behind a party trying to make momentous decisions on what flavour ice creams to try, and then asking for milk shakes which involved the assistant having to wash up several kitchen jugs.

The Vue manager tells me nothing will change because she has enough staff, even though several tills are unmanned. It's like trying to buy stamps at the Hampstead Post Office while the staff concentrate on trying to flog insurance and compete with Rymans on stationery sales.
